Burger Kings Loyalty Program, to Help Kill You Faster!

I kid, I kid. But yeah, that’s pretty much the first thought when I see loyalty programs at places like Burger King and McDonalds. Your first date rolls around, you pull out the Burger King app, and buddy you are going long past home plate that night. Jokes aside this is a step in the right direction for the fast-food giant as the digital wave has become more and more profitable, just look at the wonders that Starbucks turns out with their loyalty program. Basically, Burger King wants a piece of that.

Burger King is one of the chains at Restaurant Brands International whom also holds majority stakes in Popeyes and Canada’s cult classic Tim Hortons. Burger King is trying to lift the parent company and the stock price with a push to digital, as it will test the loyalty program at specific locations in and around the US. Of course, customers should expect the usual perks that any fat fuck drools over, including free meals after a certain number of purchases, upgrades on drinks, and daily perks on specialty items the chain might release. So, if you missed out on the Black Bun debacle that made people shit green, well now is your chance to get in on the action. Customers in New Jersey, New York, Miami and Los Angeles will be the test subjects but with most loyalty programs, this should give the chain a boost in online sales, engagement with the brand, and possibly just possibly, more customers to kill off in the future. I don’t blame the chain, I blame you for having 0 self-control, Sharron.

Although Burger King and the other brands at Restaurant Brands Intentional took a major hit during the coronavirus pandemic, who the fuck didn’t. So, they might have been a bit slower than others to get on the digital-wave but this also gives the chain time to look at it’s competitors strategies and choose the right way to unroll the program as a part of the app. With even a bit of success, this will surely roll out to the rest of the US and beyond by the end of 2021. Rejoice? I guess, I don’t know, I have only been apart of the chipotle loyalty program and at least I get to think I’m not a fatass when I eat it. There’s like lettuce….. right? Should be good enough.

So, celebrate by pushing some calories into your system, and a few free sodas to clog the arteries. Afterall that is the American way.

Anyway, that’s my take on it. Until next time. -GS
